@bookishlife#aprilconcertchallenge Day 27: Saw Them Before They Broke Up
I had read a description of #thelippies after they signed to one of the finest record labels around, Red Scare. Feminist pop punk? Oh, I was all over this. I picked up their two extant E.P.s and as soon as their full length hit the shelves I picked it up. Then it was announced that they would be coming to Philly for the first time in support of their labelmates, The Falcon. It ended being a great lineup of bands (it was the debut performance of The Vapers that night, The Scandals were great, and yes The Falcon also played). No one, though, could top The Lippies. We walked out of there even bigger fans of the band, as if that were even possible. Just a few short weeks later they abruptly came to an end, and so that ended up being the only show they would ever play in the city of brotherly love. These days Taylor and Lawrence have about a hundred bands including The Bloody Lips, Paper Thin, SHAAAAARK, and several others. Hopefully I'll get to see one of those bands out here sometime.
